Comemoração do aniversário de Dom Pedro II, patrono do Corpo de Bombeiros no Brasil
Hoje é aniversário de Dom Pedro II. Sendo assim, pelo fato do imperador ser o criador do Corpo de Bombeiros da corte, e consequentemente, Patrono do Corpo de Bombeiros Militares do Brasil, todos os estados brasileiros comemoram seu nascimento.
História
D. Pedro de Alcântara de Bragança e Bourbon, mais conhecido como Dom Pedro II, nasceu em 2 de Dezembro de 1825. Ele era o 7º filho do Imperador Dom Pedro I e da Imperatriz Leopoldina. Em 7 de abril de 1831, com a abdicação do pai, ele se tornou o segundo imperador do Brasil, aos seis anos de idade. Nesse sentido, sua maioridade apressada por razões políticas, entrega-lhe o Cetro aos 15 anos ainda incompletos.
Linha do tempo:
- Em 1856, o imperador, através do Decreto Imperial nº 1775, criou o Corpo Provisório de Bombeiros da Corte (embrião das corporações nacionais).
- No dia 26 de julho, o Major do Corpo de Engenheiros João Batista de Castro Moraes, se tornou Diretor-Geral da Corporação . Além disso, no mesmo ano da sua criação, o Corpo de Bombeiros recebeu a primeira bomba a vapor, que era destinada aos incêndios à beira-mar e que podia ser usada também para a extinção de fogo a bordo de navios.
- Em 15 de julho de 1880, pelo Decreto nº 7666, foram concedidas aos oficiais da Corporação graduações militares, com o uso das respectivas insígnias. Até a promulgação do referido decreto o Corpo de Bombeiros não era considerado como unidade militar.
